Solar System Tests of Higher-Dimensional Gravity
نویسنده
چکیده
The classical tests of general relativity — light deflection, time delay and perihelion shift — are applied, along with the geodetic precession test, to the five-dimensional extension of the theory known as Kaluza-Klein gravity, using an analogue of the four-dimensional Schwarzschild metric. The perihelion advance and geodetic precession calculations are generalized for the first time to situations in which the components of momentum and spin along the extra coordinate do not vanish. Existing data on light-bending around the Sun using long-baseline radio interferometry, ranging to Mars using the Viking lander, and the perihelion precession of Mercury all constrain a small parameter b associated with the extra part of the metric to be less than |b| < 0.07 in the solar system. An order-of-magnitude increase in sensitivity is possible from perihelion precession, if better limits on solar oblateness become available. Measurement of geodetic precession by the Gravity Probe B satellite will improve this significantly, probing values of b with an accuracy of one part in 10 or more. One-Dimensional Electrolyzer Modeling and System Sizing for Solar Hydrogen Production: an Economic Approach
In this paper, a solar based hydrogen production in the city of Tehran, the capital of Iran is simulated and the cost of produced hydrogen is evaluated. Local solar power profile is obtained using TRNSYS software for a typical parking station in Tehran. The generated electricity is used to supply power to a Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyzer for hydrogen production. Dynamic nature of s...

Despite its remarkable agreement with gravity tests in the solar system, general relativity is challenged at larger scales. Large scale tests performed in the solar system by the Pioneer 10/11 probes have failed to confirm the expected gravity laws. We discuss here extensions of general relativity which preserve its geometrical nature while showing an ability to conciliate the Pioneer anomalies...
متن کامل3D gravity data-space inversion with sparseness and bound constraints
One of the most remarkable basis of the gravity data inversion is the recognition of sharp boundaries between an ore body and its host rocks during the interpretation step. Therefore, in this work, it is attempted to develop an inversion approach to determine a 3D density distribution that produces a given gravity anomaly. The subsurface model consists of a 3D rectangular prisms of known sizes ...
متن کاملSolar system tests do rule out 1=R gravity
Shortly after the addition of a 1=R term to the Einstein-Hilbert action was proposed as a solution to the cosmic-acceleration puzzle, Chiba showed that such a theory violates Solar System tests of gravity. A flurry of recent papers have called Chiba’s result into question. They argue that the spherically-symmetric vacuum spacetime in this theory is the Schwarzschild-de Sitter solution, making t...
